NightCoop guide

Start a session and invite friends

Last checked: 2026-11-04 · Official version: v0.2.0-beta (2026-11-02) · Protocol 164 · Free · Windows 10/11 64-bit · Up to 8 players · RED4ext only (no CET) · Phantom Liberty not required

A duo starts when the host already has Co-op on the main menu and on the pause menu. Everyone is on one NightCoop build and on game 2.5 or 2.31. The official guide places the host lobby, save selection and Ready step before copying the invite. Guests use Join by code with that line.

Host

  1. Open Co-op and choose Host a session. The lobby opens from the main menu.
  2. In the lobby, pick an existing world save or New game; every player marks Ready.
  3. Read the session code on the right and use Copy the invite. Send the line to your guests so they can join this lobby.
  4. The invite identifies this session and its server. Guests use Join by code; they do not redeem it in a store.

Guest

  1. Open Co-op and choose Join by code.
  2. Type the line or paste it.
  3. You enter the host world as your own V. Your campaign file is a separate topic on the saves page.

Server line and display

The corner label reads Server, and the default text is Auto: the nearest, which picks a project hub by ping. Europe, the USA, and Asia are the regions named since the first beta. Adding your own server uses address, a hash mark, and the fingerprint. Borderless window is the display mode the beta page suggests, because exclusive fullscreen can stall for a second or two when you Alt+Tab. A one-second hitch is listed next to the Discord overlay and NVIDIA frame generation. If the lobby never shows a code, stop and use the no-join-code page: missing menu item, mixed builds, or a loader log that never mentions the plugin.

Questions

Does NightCoop send a Steam invite?

The guides do not describe a Steam or GOG friend invite. The host copies a line and sends it another way.

Where is the server picker?

The guides put “Server:” in the corner. The default is Auto: the nearest. A custom hub is added in that same place as address#fingerprint.
