NightCoop mod compatibility

Last checked: 2026-11-04 · Official version: v0.2.0-beta (2026-11-02) · Protocol 164 · Free · Windows 10/11 64-bit · Up to 8 players · RED4ext only (no CET) · Phantom Liberty not required

NightCoop is a RED4ext plugin and the home page says Cyber Engine Tweaks is not required. Since 0.2.0, a partner who lacks a mod is shown the vanilla car, weapon, weather, or radio. The SDK lets authors sync state on purpose. Neither sentence means every mod on your list is compatible. If the author has not said so, the status on this table is unknown.

Author statements checked 4 November 2026. Empty build fields mean no version was stated; a listed game version is not a NightCoop test result.

v0.1.2-beta added a mod check when someone joins, so the lobby can show what you or the other person is missing. The SDK page (MIT, with C, redscript, and CET channels) describes shared state, entity state, shared spawns, and content fallbacks. An author can opt in. A player without that author’s mod can still enter. The patch author requirements apply to both sides of the session where the table says Both. A collection bundles several authors’ files and is not an independent compatibility test of every combination.

Questions

Does 0.2.0 make every mod safe to mix?

No. The release note says missing cars, weapons, weather, and radio fall back to vanilla. That is content fallback, not a promise about scripts.

Do both players need a patch?

The MCM, Equipment-EX, and Enemies of Night City patches say both. Where a page does not say, the cell stays blank.
