NightCoop guide
Host world, guest character, saves
Last checked: 2026-11-04 · Official version: v0.2.0-beta (2026-11-02) · Protocol 164 · Free · Windows 10/11 64-bit · Up to 8 players · RED4ext only (no CET) · Phantom Liberty not required
People ask whether a guest can walk in with a character they already built, and whether that visit will trash the guest’s own manual saves. The FAQ answer is stable: the world you are playing is the host’s save, and the guest’s campaign is not rewritten. Before the first session, copy the folder the guides name: Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077 under your user profile.
What the October analysis saw
The lifecycle notes, which cover the 0.1.0 build, describe a pre-session save on the guest before they enter. The host sends the world file. The guest writes a new manual slot that combines the host world with the guest character, using a temporary file so the original slot is not replaced in place. Inventory and quest items on that build depend on a switch: bring your quest items and stash, or bring only the character and an empty stash. That switch description belongs to the October analysis rather than a current 0.2.0 feature statement.
The 0.2.0 sentence about missing saves
The 2 November notes say the mod no longer hides or deletes your saves, and that a guest keeps their own stash, cars, and saves. That sentence is evidence that 0.1.x could hide or delete saves. If your search is “missing manual saves,” point it at that fix, and update to 0.2.0-beta, instead of treating every build as safe. I do not have a per-version bug log beyond that sentence. Autosave remains undescribed. A lock during combat or story, mentioned in the October notes, is not the same as a working autosave feature.

Questions
Can I join with my saved V?
Yes. The FAQ says you bring your own V. Progress of the story belongs to the host save. Your separate campaign is not rewritten.
Does NightCoop autosave?
No project page describes an autosave feature. The October analysis only says saves can be locked during combat and story. The current release notes instead document the save fixes listed below.
