NightCoop guide
Where NightCoop runs
Last checked: 2026-11-04 · Official version: v0.2.0-beta (2026-11-02) · Protocol 164 · Free · Windows 10/11 64-bit · Up to 8 players · RED4ext only (no CET) · Phantom Liberty not required
NightCoop is a Windows RED4ext plugin. The base game is sold on more platforms. The mod is not. A licensed Windows copy on Steam, GOG, or Epic is the setup the download page describes.
| Platform | Base game | NightCoop | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windows 10/11 | Steam, GOG, Epic | Supported | 1 source (NightCoop project) |
| PlayStation 5 | Listed by CD PROJEKT RED for 2.5 | No build | 2 publishers; game platform and mod availability are separate claims |
| Xbox Series X|S | Listed by CD PROJEKT RED for 2.5 | No build | 2 publishers; CDPR game listing + project Windows-only build |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | CDPR said 2.5 arrives later | No build | 2 publishers; CDPR game listing + project Windows-only build |
| macOS | Ultimate Edition announced by CDPR | No official build; unofficial experiment exists | 2 publishers for separate game and official-mod claims; experiment: 1 author |
| Steam Deck | No project rating found | No official support | 1 source (Windows-only wording; no Deck note found) |
Cross-play and the in-game mod browser
There is no published console build or official console cross-play path. Xbox PC is not the same as an Xbox console: the supported store list is Steam, GOG and Epic on Windows, and the project does not list the Xbox PC app. A Mac copy of the base game does not include a native NightCoop build. Cyberpunk 2.5 added an in-game mod browser backed by mod.io. That browser is not a console port of NightCoop.
The project asks for a licensed copy. This page does not describe cracked installs, and it does not link to them. Steam Deck has no support statement on the cited project pages; this is an official-support status rather than a claim about every possible Proton setup.
An independent nightcoop-mac repository describes an early, unofficial attempt using protocol 143. Its author reports checks with a headless client on a local hub, without validation against a Windows NightCoop client or a second Mac. Status: 1 source (repository author). This is separate from the current official Windows release on protocol 164.

Questions
Can I buy the game on Epic and still use the mod?
Yes. The download page lists Steam, GOG, and Epic as licensed copies. The mod zip still comes from nightcoop.net, not from the store.
Will it come to console?
The home page says Windows for now. No console build is listed on the download page as of 4 November 2026.
