Last checked: 2026-11-04 · Official version: v0.2.0-beta (2026-11-02) · Protocol 164 · Free · Windows 10/11 64-bit · Up to 8 players · RED4ext only (no CET) · Phantom Liberty not required

The official sequence starts with Co-op → Host a session. In the lobby, select a world save or New game and complete the Ready step, then use Copy the invite. A missing session code and a missing Co-op menu item require different checks. The menu item is needed before any lobby or invite can exist.

Host checklist before anyone is invited

  1. The main menu shows Co-op. If it does not, the plugin file is not where the loader looks. Fix the install before hunting for a code.
  2. Every person is on the same NightCoop build and on a game version that build lists, 2.5 or 2.31 for the current archives.
  3. The RED4ext log shows the plugin. The logs page has the folder.
  4. The host opens Co-op, hosts a session, and copies the invite. A guest cannot invent the code.

Guest side

A guest joins with the copied line. They do not generate one. If the host and the guest are on different protocols, the download page says they cannot share a session. Protocol 164 is v0.2.0-beta. Protocol 143 is v0.1.2-beta. The two October builds share protocol 128 with each other and with nobody newer. A guest who updated alone must return to the same protocol as the host.

The open-beta page describes the first session as host world, your own V, and an invite. It does not mention a store overlay as a blocker. Start with the documented lobby and loader checks. Evidence: 1 source (NightCoop project). Treat this as the documented lobby sequence rather than a confirmed explanation of every missing-code report.

Questions

Is the invite code a redeem code?

No. It is the line the host copies so a guest can enter that session. NightCoop has no store redeem codes.

Do Steam or GOG overlays block the code?

The guides do not say that. They point at the lobby, the build, and whether the plugin loaded. Use the documented lobby and loader checks.
