NightCoop vs ChoomLink

Last checked: 2026-11-04 · Official version: v0.2.0-beta (2026-11-02) · Protocol 164 · Free · Windows 10/11 64-bit · Up to 8 players · RED4ext only (no CET) · Phantom Liberty not required

Both projects put up to eight players in the host’s Cyberpunk 2077 world. NightCoop 0.2.0-beta is a zip that needs RED4ext and not Cyber Engine Tweaks. ChoomLink 0.2.5, updated on the Nexus page by 4 November 2026, adds Free Roam, Free for All, Search and Destroy, and Survival, and it installs through a launcher. The Nexus tags on that page include Cyber Engine Tweaks. As of 4 November 2026.

Life paths on ChoomLink

ChoomLink’s page says players on different life paths finish their own prologue, meet at a junction, and then enter the host campaign. The first person waits. The host can choose to go on without them. NightCoop’s pages do not describe that prologue split. They describe a host save and each person’s own V. These are different campaign entry flows. The install cost is the practical difference: one zip versus a launcher that pins requirement versions and updates them.

Choose NightCoop if you want the campaign, a published checksum, and no CET requirement. Choose ChoomLink if the arena mode list is the point. The table describes features rather than measured frame times or crash rates.

Questions

Which one if I only want the story?

Both pages say they play the host’s campaign. Pick NightCoop if you want the RED4ext zip and no launcher. Pick ChoomLink if you also want the named match modes.

Does the AI tag mean the whole mod is generated?

The Nexus page carries the tag AI-Generated Content. The tag alone does not describe how every file was made.
